The Loire Valley, the ‘Garden of France’,  renowned for its numerous  royal chateaux, has much to offer the tourist and  the wine lover.

It is steeped in royal heritage and is studded with enchanting chateaux.

The main Loire appellations of  Angers, Chinon, Saumur and Touraine produce a vast range of sparkling, sweet,red and white fine wines.

Visit the cellars of some of the best producers in Bourgeuil, Chinon, Coteaux de Layon, Savennieres and Vouvray.

Savour the gastronomy from its numerous Michelin starred restaurants or simply enjoy a picnic in a vineyard matching market fare with the local wines.

The tour  for a small group of 4/7 people will be guided by a local wine specialist. You will taste, enjoy and learn more about wine in a convivial environment..

The group will be based in Tours city which is known for its quiet atmosphere and extensive heritage.  It is the ideal gateway  to the Loire Valley and its wine regions. Since 2013 it has a new tramway service.

A sample tour will be for 3/4 days ( Friday to Monday). A direct flight service from Dublin to Tours with Ryanair makes this an ideal short break destination. The airport is a 15 minute transfer from the city centre.

Sample Tour Itinerary

Day 1

Arrive in Tours, transfer to your hotel. Dinner in a local restaurant.

Day 2 and 3

The two full  days will be spent touring several wine regions, visiting producers and tasting   their wines. In the company of your wine guide you will learn about the wonderful  Loire  wines and the long traditions of their winemakers. Lunch will be in a local restaurant or weather permitting , a picnic  lunch in a vineyard.  Dinner in a restaurant in Tours.

Day 4

A self guided tour of Tours city. Free time to for shopping or cultural visits. Lunch and depart to airport for return flight.
